A brief history of FL2-R
FL2-R is a local chapter of the Eagle Wing Motorcycle Association. We are situated in Broward County Florida near Fort Lauderdale. Historically we were originally a chapter of the now defunct GoldWing Road Riders Association. With the formation of the Eagle Wings Motorcycle Association by former national officers of the GWRRA, Anita Alkire and Bruce Beeman, some of our group’s members joined the new organization and established new chapter of the EWMA keeping the designation “FL2-R”.
We meet once a month in a local eating establishment to exchange ideas, news, jokes and tales of interest. We try to keep the gathering interesting and a fun place to be. We hold trivia contests, games and raffles. There are door prizes just for being there and you can get more chances at the door prizes by correctly answering the chapter director’s riddles which are posted in our monthly newsletter.
First and foremost, we emphasize the FUN aspect of our organization. There are no rules to follow, and no one is made to feel left out. There are no local dues collected and we cover expenses by the proceeds from our 50-50 raffles and donations.
Our members organize our riding activities, and we try to have a ride to a designated place or along a scenic route each week.
We keep in touch via this website, WhatsApp, and are present on Facebook.
Please, feel free to meet us at any of our gatherings. You will be very welcome to partake in our activities and we hope that you will join our group.
